About Bush Kraal Industries (PTY) LTD

Bush Kraal Industries operates a livestock farming business producing beef and mutton, in Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality. Our focus is on Goat farming. Currently the business is breeding of low maintenance veldt ready Brahman Cattle and Boer Goats. Goat farming request less capital and investment, it has been proven as a profitable idea both in South Africa and Worldwide.

The origin of the Boer Goat is from Namaqua Hottentots and is a composite breed from crossbreeding European Angora and Indian goat in the early 1900’s.

The breed can co-exist well with cattle due to their browsing nature by consuming less grass and forage than cattle.

It is world renowned and most sought after for their superior characteristics such as adaptability, hardiness, good maternal instincts, meat production, high reproduction rate.

It was registered as an indigenous breed in South Africa in 1959 and classified as a Landrace breed.

The purpose of the project, we selected to breed Boer goat under a semi-intensive system. Vertical farming system where Nanny goats will browse and graze in the open veldt and will be taken inside for creep feeding when they are getting on heat to be introduced to Rams. The

Horizontal farming system where all (Kids) are allowed to browse and graze in the open veldt. Mating of Nanny goats on heat will also occur there as well.

The buckling which is castrated known as a Wether will be creep fed until they are fattened and ready for the market.
